The Cimanggis plant manufactures and distributes finished dosage form products to Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Myanmar, and Hong Kong.
Pharmaceutical wholesalers in all provinces of Indonesia distribute products manufactured and repackaged.
The plant maintains well-equipped departments for Pharmaceutical manufacturing, packing of the product into primary and secondary packaging, quality control and assurance, and necessary auxiliary functions.
The manufacturing plant is located in an industrialized rural area about 38 km south of Jakarta, the capital city.
Cephalosporin products are manufactured in a dedicated building with a separate air handling unit to ensure no cross contamination to other products.
Cortico-steroid hormones products are manufactured in a dedicated area within the non-cephalosporin manufacturing building. The area has separate return air handling systems equipped with HEPA filtration to prevent cross contamination.
The product range includes:
- antifungal
- cephalosporin
- anti-asthma
- anti-hypertensives
- cardiovasculars
- anti-anxiety and antidepressants
- corticosteroids for topical and systemic use
- vitamins
- antipyretics
Injectable dosage forms are not manufactured on-site, but Bristol-Myers Squibb Indonesia acts as a distribution base for such products manufactured by other Bristol-Myers Squibb subsidiaries. These include penicillin-derived and non-penicillin derived anti-bacteria, antineoplastics and antihypertensives

Economic Development

The facility directly contributes to the local economy through employee wages and benefits.
Community and Social Progress
- Over 30 percent of the plant's employees participate in the Red Cross blood drive program, begun in 1993.
- Indonesian employees have contributed articles on Computer Ergonomics used in the worldwide BMS safety program.
- The Jakarta Tamara site has an active EHS team with programs on safe driving, office safety, ergonomics, and self inspection.
- Safety month (June), focused on enhancing the awareness and commitment on EHS concerns. Various events are organized to increase EHS commitment, such as a fire fighting competition, poster competition, safety quiz, video presentation, and EHS training.
- A comprehensive permit to work system has been developed combining GMP, EHS procedures, and engineering best practices.
- To enhance the facility's EHS commitment, we conduct daily inspections and hold department safety talks.
- The facility has an updated plant dossier, including an engineering line diagram showing plant structures, buildings, pipe bridges, and drains.
- To improve the General Health and Safety in all plant activities, an occupational health medical doctor conducted a health risk assessment. An annual medical assessment was performed for all employees according to the recommendation of an occupational health specialist and occupational health consultant.
- A quality and safety pledge was launched in March 2004. All employees have signed the quality and safety poster as their commitment to implementing a safe work system.
Environmental Performance
- All hazardous waste has been disposed to the PPLI (waste management owned by the government) held by an approved waste contractor.
- The facility is closely involved with 15 local and multi-national pharmaceutical companies to share EHS issues related to the pharmaceutical industry, regulatory updating, engineering standards, training, contractors, etc. An energy conservation program was initiated in April 2004 to bring electricity, fuel, and water reduction awareness to all employees.
- The facility has adopted the Komodo Dragon as part of the company's Sustainability 2010 goal to encourage each facility and business to help protect endangered species and habitats.
